I am taking a Course called Journey to Wholeness. One of the questions we were asked to reflect on was Who Are You? That is a hard question to answer. I know I am a mother, a teacher, a sister and sister-in-law, a daughter, and friend. But those are roles I play. Are they really who I am?
I know I am a hard worker. I love to sit on the beach and watch people.
I love a good book and am a sucker for a good tear jerking movie. I hate dishonesty and I think gossip is a waste of time.
I am an adoptive/foster mom to two beautiful daughters and their two dogs. I am a teacher to some pretty cool Kindergarteners, grade ones and twos. I work with some very awesome people. But who am I? Who am I when I am all alone and no one is watching? I used to be very afraid of that question because I felt like the real me disappeared when no one was around. Then I learned to pray. Now when I am alone, I am more aware that I am a child of the living God. I am daughter to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I am chosen by God to accomplish His purposes for my life.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. NLT
Maybe it is not so important for me to know who I am. Maybe I just need to focus on Who Jesus is. Maybe I just need to focus on what it means to be chosen.
1Peter 2:9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
What does it mean to journey on the path as a chosen child of the Creator of heaven and earth?
